Our client are seeking an experienced Independent Scrutineer and Chair of the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership to join the team based in Barnsley. You will be working on a self-employed basis for a term of three years initially and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £600 per day including all expenses.

The Scrutineer role:

Remuneration: £600 per day including all expenses, for up to 36 days per year (non-pensionable) (self-employed status).

Duration: The Independent Scrutineer and Chair appointment will be for a term of three years initially (reviewed after one year) with the possibility of extension of a further two years.

Responsibilities as our client's Scrutineer will involve:

• Scrutinizing our client's effectiveness in engaging with children and young people about their lived experiences, understanding their observations about what they do well and what they need to change as a system
• Helping our client to demonstrate impact upon outcomes and intelligent analysis which interprets performance data
• Providing scrutiny of the effectiveness with which they are embedding a practice learning culture with all front line staff and volunteers

Skills and experience our client are looking for in their Scrutineer:

They would like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate their shared values and can offer both challenge and support. They welcome applications from people from a range of disciplines which could include social care, health, police or equivalent experience at a strategic management level.

• You will have extensive experience of leading and shaping safeguarding services for children, with a track record of partnership working, both strategically and operationally
• You will have an extensive knowledge of safeguarding children, the statutory framework, evidenced based research and best practice
• You will have excellent leadership and communication skills that support a culture of collaboration, transparency and challenge, with the ability to scrutinise and evaluate both quantitative data and qualitative activities, promoting continuous improvement through learning and best practice
