Immigration Solicitor / Level 2 Caseworker

Citizens Advice North Yorkshire are leading a project across North Yorkshire supporting litigants in person. We are looking for a solicitor or IAAS Level 2 supervisor registered with the SRA to work within our specialist advice team providing high quality advice and representation for clients dealing with issues relating to immigration matters.

The suitable candidate will have experience in supervising and/or managing solicitors/caseworkers and working to project funders requirements. They will also be able to assist clients, where necessary, in navigating the civil law system including drafting or writing letters; have the skills and knowledge to prepare and present cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts; as well as negotiating with third parties as needed. They will be responsible for maintaining case records and ensuring that all casework conforms to the organisation’s appropriate quality standards. They will have strong organisation and communication skills and be able to both carry a caseload and provide supervision. They will be supported by a Project Manager.

The successful applicant will have strong organisational abilities and communication skills. They will also have an understanding of equality and diversity and its application to the provision of advice. You will have experience of delivering immigration casework either as a solicitor or an IAAS Level 2 caseworker. You will need the ability to use IT systems and electronic resources in the provision of advice, administrative support and in the preparation of reports. This role can be based at any of our offices in North Yorkshire (Northallerton, Richmond, Malton, Scarborough, Selby, Harrogate, Whitby and Skipton) or partly from home. We offer flexible working.
