Description Central is currently recruiting for three Team Leaders, to work in the Highgate area. The organisation is a small specialist Housing Association, providing supported housing, domiciliary care and individualised packages of support for older people, helping them to continue living independent, fulfilling lives.

There are two Day Team Leader roles and one Waking Night Team Leader role available, to work 44 hours per week. The Day Team Leader will be required to work acrossMonday - Friday, 8AM - 8PM and the Waking Night Team Leader will be expected to work 8PM - 8AM. Team Leaders normally work four eleven hour shifts per week including alternate weekends. Cover is required on a temp to perm basis. The pay rate is£29,598.44 per annum.

Please note, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the on call rota. This will be for one week (24 hours per day) per month.

In this position, you will be expected to;

  • Line manage a team of 9 Care and Support Workers providing supervision, guidance and support as needed, including monitoring attendance and ensuring that staff carry out their duties to an appropriate standard.
  • Act as first point of contact for tenants, relatives and other visitors concerning care and support matters, ensuring queries are dealt with in a timely fashion, including liaison with GPs, pharmacies and other health care services on behalf of customers
  • Take and give handover reports to and from the outgoing and incoming Shift Leader at the start and end of each shift and complete the handover form
  • Ensure that all planned activities, appointments, visits and other events during the shift are supported appropriately, taking place on time, deploying care and support staff as required
  • Ensure that all medication administration takes place by accredited Care and Support Workers and that MAR charts and other documentation is completed
  • Deal with emergencies and unforeseen incidents as they occur during the shift, where necessary reporting to senior management or the on-call manager
  • Carry out assessments, including for new community-based customers and to write care and support plans, risk assessments and other care planning documentation as required
  • Support keyworkers to ensure that all care and support plans are up to date and keyworking sessions take place and are properly recorded
  • Carry out audits and other quality monitoring tasks as required.

To apply for this role, you must have;

  • Knowledge and experience of working in adult social care services for older people
  • Experience of leading a team, managing or supervising care and support staff or shift leading
  • Experience of delivering personal care services to vulnerable people
  • Experience of writing care and support plans, risk assessments and other notes and reports
  • Knowledge of health and safety and risk in a care environment
  • Knowledge of assistive technology including falls alarms and other equipment and aids to maximise the independence of older people
  • Ability to use a range of standard care and support equipment including mobility hoists and to support people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids
  • Experience of working in a regulated service
  • Experience of the administration of medication and MAR charts
  • NVQ level 3 in health and Social Care or equivalent
