OVERVIEW
PhoenixPlace is a specialist independent school for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment difficulties. Rated as ‘good’, we provide education across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a dynamic, highly skilled forward thinking Human Resources Manager to join our growing team who can contribute significantly to the positive growth of the school. We are a small specialist provision, educating a maximum of 40 students.
We are proud of our journey since opening in November 2014. Together we are creating a happy and exciting school, with a rich curriculum that provides a wealth of opportunities to inspire our students in their learning and personal development. Our school is a positive and energetic environment in which everyone is encouraged to do their best and achieve their full potential, a place where everybody is valued and respected. The work we do is both varied and demanding, and we form a cornerstone of a triangulated approach which places the child at the centre of education, care and therapeutic intervention.
The HR Manager exists to support the whole school through the effective management and delivery of the Human Resources function to the Head, School Leadership Team (SLT) and to all staff.

The successful candidate will benefit from person-to-person interaction and relationship building, supporting employees directly, coordinating, planning and executing HR activities; this may involve guiding senior management through the various HR disciplines i.e. recruitment process, benefits programs, employment disputes and other administrative needs, which are important to employees within the school.
The HR function aims overall to deliver effective and efficient support, maintaining the agreed standards of service, to the students, staff and parents who make up the school community.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A relevant HR qualification eg CIPD - Level 5 - Associate Diploma in People Management, Foundation Certificate in People Practice (or equivalent)
- Good working knowledge of employment law and safer recruitment requirements
- Good knowledge of the conditions of service in the Burgundy and Green Book
- GCSEs in English and Maths
- Experience working in an HR department at a senior level
- Working with senior stakeholders
- Commitment to acting with integrity, honesty, loyalty and fairness to safeguard the assets, financial probity and reputation of the school
- The ability to be reflective, dynamic and creative in their practice and be willing to work within the values and ethos of PhoenixPlace.
