About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. We are ranked in the world’s top 350 HEIs in the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and in the top ten mainstream universities in the country for the proportion of UK undergraduates in employment 15 months after graduating. We have campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough with around 2,500 staff and 35,000 students from 180 countries. With a focussed civic mission, we are committed to working with others through education, research and knowledge exchange to enhance the economic, cultural and social wellbeing of the communities in which we work and live.

About the role:

You will join our School of Life Sciences, working with academics teaching and conducting world-class research in areas such as Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Crime and Investigative Science, and Animal and Environmental Biology, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. We’re a forward-looking and enthusiastic School with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching.

With a degree and a PhD or professional doctorate in a related discipline (or nearing completion for Lecturer appointments), you will have successful experience of teaching in immunology and pathology of human diseases. You will ensure high standards of teaching, whilst adhering to quality assurance standards, and providing an excellent student experience. You will be committed to research and prepared to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, as well as developing your personal research activities. Your research will align to the School research strategy (consult our website for a description of our research activity). You will possess excellent communications skills and will demonstrate a flexible approach to work.

We are fully committed to Athena SWAN principles to promote women in science and are keen to accommodate staff with family or caring responsibilities. You will be required to work such hours as are reasonably necessary to perform your duties which may involve occasional evening or weekend work. Flexible working requests are welcomed.

It is expected that interviews will take place online early in September 2022.

For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Christopher Parris, Head of School of Life Sciences ([email protected]), or Dr Alvin Helden, Deputy Head of School ([email protected]).

We have an agile working culture and offer an extensive range of benefits including a generous holiday entitlement, occupational pension schemes, training and development opportunities, travel to work scheme and a competitive relocation package. Visit our benefits page for full details.
