Together with their network of partners, they provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for gardeners and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.

They have a real focus on improving the health and well-being outcomes of people working in gardening and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for them.

They are now looking for a Chef / Catering Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday and on Bank Holidays.

The Role

As a Chef / Catering Assistant, you will assist the catering manager with the daily operation of our client’s café, including preparing fresh food and maintaining excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Specifically, you will help in the development and preparation of changing seasonal menus, using fresh produce from our client’s kitchen garden. You will also prepare a daily array of sweet treats such as cakes, scones and tray bakes.

Ensuring that the kitchen remains a clean and hygienic environment, you will organise and rotate stocks and deliveries, whilst following health and safety and COSHH procedures during your work.

About You

To be considered as a Chef / Catering Assistant, you will need:

- Food preparation, cooking, and presentation skills – especially those relevant to a healthy café setting

- Good, up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene and allergens

- Familiarity with the Food Standards Agency’s ‘Safer Food Better Business for Caterers’ guidelines
