Description

Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker (Complex Needs) to work in the Upper Holloway area. The service is an 18 bed hostel providing accommodation and a high level of support for people with issues relating to substance use, offending and mental ill health.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working from Monday - Friday on a rota basis covering early (8AM - 3:30PM), mid (10AM - 5:30PM) and late (3PM-10:30PM) shifts. Cover is required for approximately 3 months. The pay rate is £12.43 per hour, with £1.50 holiday pay, totalling £13.93 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to:

  • Hold a caseload of complex key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed SMART Support Plans
  • Complete comprehensive needs and risk assessments with clients who may be hard-to-engage and/or ambivalent about taking up support
  • Provide specialist interventions for service users via the in-house recovery programme and help service users identify their problems and potential solutions
  • Coach service users, advocate on their behalf and make appropriate referrals to relevant specialist services
  • Formulate and review recovery plans
  • Work with residents to maximise their benefit entitlement and assist service users with budgeting skills
  • Ensure all voids are managed efficiently in a timely manner to maximise project income

To apply for this role, you must have:

  • Experience holding a caseload and completing needs and risk assessments
  • Experience of working with clients with complex needs including substance misuse, mental health, offending, street activity and anti-social behaviour
  • Experience of and be competent working in a high support needs hostel
  • Understanding of the issues which disrupt progress in journeys towards independence such as mental health and substance misuse
  • An understanding of the Strengths and Recovery model and the ability to apply this within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE)
  • Experience working with clients to create a multi-agency care plan

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £44)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
