Description

Our client has taken the balloon and party industry by storm, and even before their first birthday, they are already one of the leading suppliers in the industry. They sell balloons, props and accessories to balloon artists and event stylists, giving them the tools they need to create beautiful displays for any celebration. With plans to keep growing, adding new lines and more products, they need people who can grow with the business.

If you're a process-driven twentysomething with ambitions to become the Head of Operations of a fast-growing startup within a few years, this could be your calling. Going forward, a team will be recruited for the warehouse as demand grows, giving you an opportunity to lead an exceptional team and shape the department with your skills and experience. Maybe you've worked in an operations role at a startup (think Gorillas, Zapp), or picked up a data- and process-driven mindset through your degree.

About the role:

As the first full-time hire, specifically in the warehouse, you will have overall responsibility for achieving total stock control utilising our web-based systems. You will ensure that all stock has been properly inspected and accounted for from intake through to dispatch. You will maintain accurate stock levels and create systems to minimise errors. The warehouse will be your domain: you will responsible for layout, maximising efficiency in both space and time to pick, and everything that happens within the warehouse from goods in, to packing large items to managing the team that in time will help you. You will implement a digital picking process (currently a manual process) and create a culture of continuous improvement within the warehouse.

Responsibilites:

Picking & Packing:

  • Daily picking of orders (pickers to be hired as demand increases)
  • Regular auditing of stock management system to ensure total stock integrity is being maintained
  • Ensure that the storage areas are always operated to a “Clean as you go” policy

Leadership & entrepreneurship:

  • To maintain and implement “Stock System” standards so the business can always have real time stock accuracy
  • To continuously assess stock in storage for quality and, where deemed necessary, have procurement & production departments re-evaluate their position
  • As new recruits join, lead your team, using excellent communication techniques
  • Ensure your team has the required quantity & quality of skills & knowledge

Data:

  • Ensure all KPIs are regularly reviewed
  • Assess KPI data, trend analysis & identify clear actions for improvement

About you:

  • Relevant experience working in a warehouse environment and undertaking stock management - one year minimum, OR operations experience within a startup
  • Excellent computer skills and fast learner of new programmes
  • Fluent English – Both written & verbal
  • Own transport required as the warehouse is in a rural location
