About the Business Solutions Risk Management Team

Our diverse and growing team of around 10 people focuses on helping our colleagues in Business Solutions identify, manage and mitigate the risks in their specialist areas.

As well as enabling innovative activities for our stakeholders on a day to day basis, we also develop risk management frameworks for evolving new services and relationships across the business that create potential new risks.

We work flexibly across multiple locations and alongside subject matter experts from across the firm. We are active members of the Risk Management and Technologists communities, with regular opportunities to come together for work and socialising.

What is EMS?

Execution Managed Services (EMS) is a business priority that underpins the firm’s strategy by enabling us to deliver exceptional client outcomes and sustainable, profitable growth. EMS brings together skills from across the firm to advise, design and execute. Our ability to ‘operate and run’, combined with our business understanding, technical expertise, data and technology capabilities, means we can simplify complex challenges, improve existing operations and processes, and execute quickly and effectively. Examples include transforming and running a client’s claims handling process, finance function or anti-money laundering processes.

EMS propositions are complex, commonly long in duration, technology enabled and often involve multiple Lines of Service teams and significant resources. Given the different risk profile of EMS engagements we are developing a dedicated EMS Governance and Risk Management Framework to ensure risks are managed appropriately and the firm can achieve its growth aspirations in a secure manner.

The role

As the EMS Risk Management Manager, you will work with the EMS Risk Management team and with other risk management professionals from across the firm to manage the risks associated with EMS. Your work will involve:

• Implementing a Governance and Risk Management Framework for EMS services that works for all parts of the firm and across all elements of the engagement
  

• Advising on the risk management issues arising in EMS engagements - often high profile and higher risk
  

• Iterating the governance process as experiences grows in this space
  

• Developing clear guidance and communications for the business to apply risk processes in EMS engagements

• Building relationships with Risk Management teams (both central and Line of Service) to leverage and help develop the skills and knowledge of your colleagues

• Understanding the role of various specialist functions (Independence, Technology, Network Information Security, Data Protection, Procurement, Office of General Counsel, Firms Tax and Branding) in risk management processes and building relationships with key individuals
