Central is currently recruiting for a three Support Workers (mental health), to work in the Westminster area. This service provides support to vulnerable adults with a range of mental health support needs within supported accommodation to help them build individual confidence and interpersonal skills

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working 3 days a weekacross Monday - Sunday on a rota basis, covering 8AM - 8:30PM. Cover is required for approximately 3 months. The pay rate for this role is £12.43 per hour, with £1.50 holiday pay, totalling £13.93 per hour.

In this position, you will be required to:

  • Hold a caseload of key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed support plans.
  • Support service users develop necessary skills to sustain accommodation long term and improve their quality of life.
  • Respond in a psychologically informed way to the challenges posed by complex needs in a residential setting
  • Respond to and asses all referrals.
  • Support service users ready to move to step down.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, including other teams within, external agencies such as care teams & GPs/pharmacies
  • Work with service users to maximise benefit entitlements and secure project income through efficient rent collection and the minimisation of arrears and void loss
  • Support the development of independent budgeting skills
  • Participate in housing management procedures, such as room checks, locality checks and Health and Safety checks

To apply for this role, you must have;

  • Experience working with vulnerable adults including mental health.
  • An understanding of how trauma and adversity have the potential to create re-occurring incidences of multiple disadvantage, homelessness and mental distress
  • An awareness of the Care Act 2014 and demonstrable understanding of what it means for service users.
  • Experience working within a psychologically informed environment (PIE) model.
  • The ability to build relationships with people who may be reluctant to trust or work with you, whilst maintaining professional boundaries
  • The ability to navigate complex mental health systems and specialities
  • An understanding of the multiple issues that can lead to homelessness and how such experiences can impact service users.

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £44)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
