Description

The Council is looking to develop new residential care services for children and young people in Swansea. The services will typically support young people between the ages of 10 to 18 years who display challenging behaviour and/or have experienced trauma, neglect and abuse. We are committed to helping the young people to reach their full potential and enjoy a bright future.

We are therefore looking to recruit a number of 12 month fixed term full-time Residential Child Care Officers. You will be required to work on a shift basis over a 7 day period. This will include working days, evenings, nights, and weekends and overnights.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals who can contribute to a warm, caring and supportive environment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day-care of the young people as well as ensuring the young people’s personal plans are properly developed and implemented. Part of the role will include keeping the house clean and tidy.

Essential training will be provided and ongoing training opportunities will be given to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the role and how to best support the young people in the service.

QCF Qualification Level 3 Health and Social Care, Children and Young People: is desired but not essential, but if you have not got the qualification already then you must be prepared to work towards completing within a reasonable timescale. You will be supported to do this.
