Description

Queen Anne’s is an ambitious and dynamic day and boarding school for girls aged 11–18. Situated in the Reading suburb of Caversham, just north of the River Thames, the School occupies a beautiful 35-acre campus, combining a mix of well-maintained and attractive mid-19th-century structures with outstanding contemporary buildings. Queen Anne’s prepares girls for an ever-changing world through an exciting and continually evolving education steeped in excellence and true innovation.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Finance & Strategy to support the recently appointed Head, Elaine Purves, in developing and implementing her ambitious plans for Queen Anne’s. The new Director of Finance & Strategy will play a key role within the Leadership Team and, together with the Board of Governors, will be instrumental in the implementation of the School’s strategic development plan.

Reporting to the Head, the Director of Finance & Strategy will provide leadership to a diverse team of support staff and ensure the successful management of the day-to-day non-educational and commercial operations of the School, including finance, estates, facilities, IT, procurement, risk management and the generation of non-fee income.

The successful candidate will be a creative and innovative leader with strong financial and commercial acumen. A strategic thinker, they will demonstrate a proven track record of effective senior leadership and will possess outstanding relationship-building and communication skills.

Existing school Bursar experience is not a pre-requisite, and applications are encouraged from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector and public-sector backgrounds. A highly attractive remuneration package, including fee remission, will be available for the successful candidate.
