Description

Applied science for the blue economy – PML Applications is a uniquely diverse marine environmental consultancy, providing scientific research, consulting, and training services to help organisations understand the marine environment’s impact on their business, and their impact on the marine environment. We accelerate new technologies for a sustainable blue economy.

The role:

The digital division of PML Applications has recently launched a new suite of software products, which builds on a well-established data services offering, and we are seeking an experienced business development manager to help us expand this part of the business. You will be in contact with potential customers globally to understand their needs, forming and maintaining a relationship between the business and our customer base.

From making initial contact through to ensuring repeat business, you will be the day-to-day point of contact. You will work with the support of a technical pre-sales capability who can advise on in-depth questions which may be posed, as well as the technical support and development teams who will assist you in responding to emerging customer requirements.

About you:

Confident in talking to customers at a technical level in a sales capacity Proven, successful track record in sales, ideally B2B software subscriptions Excellent inter-personal skills; clear and articulate in both verbal and written communication Excellent stakeholder management skills and emotional empathy with an ability to create a comfortable rapport with a broad range of stakeholders internationally across business and academia, plus local and national government Experienced in use of a CRM system Any understanding of hyperspectral instruments, their uses, and applications would be very beneficial, however, training is available if this is new to you. Any knowledge of Earth observation methods and applications using sensors mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), fixed wing aircraft, and satellites would be advantageous; again, training is available in this area too. Being multi-lingual would be a distinct bonus, although by no means a requirement

The role is based in our office in Plymouth, however, we are happy to offer a remote working option with regular visits to our Plymouth office. This post is offered with an open-ended contract at a starting salary of £47,000 - £52,000 depending on experience, benefits include a Performance related bonus of up to 6.5% of salary, an annual Group Reward Scheme payment and Group Personal Pension Scheme. In addition, you will have a generous 30 days of annual leave plus 8 days of public holiday. The position advertised is a full-time role requiring 37.5 hours per week, however, applications for part time working are also welcome (please state this in your application).

PML Applications is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. As part of this, we offer opportunities to discuss flexible working and, whilst the selection process will be based on merit, we particularly welcome applications from female candidates, currently underrepresented.
