Description

Would you like to support young people in a classroom environment?

Support some of West Sussex most vulnerable children in becoming the best version of themselves.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their supportive and motivated team.

The school is based in Worthing and provides support for children aged 5-11 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional and mental health challenges. The key is to deliver personal and life skills, through a restorative method.

Working in a class based environment to support some of the most vulnerable children in West Sussex, who have been through significant trauma. Giving pupils skills to allow them to gain independence and aiming to ensure they do not enter the criminal justice system. This role is about supporting, guiding and showing them a new way to embrace learning, to value education and preparing them for life out of school.

It is important to understand, where the children are coming from and what traumas they have been through. The importance of clear objectives being set for them, making them feel valued within themselves and within their school environment.

Children in the school present with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) often struggling to manage their emotions and behaviour and as a result, they find it difficult to make and sustain relationships with adults and peers. These difficulties may present as withdrawal and isolation, as well as challenging, disruptive or other concerning behaviour. These children often struggle to engage in a learning environment, frequently display inappropriate behaviour and therefore benefit from additional support in order to achieve their potential.
