The Naval Families Federation (NFF) exists to give Royal Navy and Royal Marines families a voice and representation to Ministers, other Government departments, devolved administrations, the Chain of Command and civilian service providers. We provide support and guidance on matters affecting the daily lives of Naval Service families, acting as an advocate and champion when appropriate to resolve complex issues. We also support appropriate and relevant research.

PURPOSES

Primary Purposes:

To lead and manage the Naval Families Federation in order to deliver the NFF’s strategy and promote the family perspective on a range of issues including but not limited to education, housing, health and wellbeing, under represented groups and the Armed Forces Covenant.

To represent the lived experiences, and associated evidence, of Naval Service families to central Government, Other Government Departments, the Devolved Administrations, the AFPRB and the Royal Navy’s Chain of Command in order to inform policy and decision making.

Secondary Purposes:

To manage the NFF charity in accordance with Charity Commission regulations.

Be the accounting officer for the NFF, an MOD Arm’s Length Body (ALB) in receipt of Grant-in-Aid funding.

To lead and implement the NFF’s strategy and future development plans.

To direct the NFF’s employees to deliver effectively NFF charitable objects and to provide appropriate information, advocacy and signposting to Naval Service families, including supporting individual policy related casework.

Take ownership of the charity budget and provide oversight of management accounts and financial statements.

To direct and oversee the production of high quality and effective communications to promote NFF to include Homeport Magazine, the NFF website and social media outlets.

To identify and pursue appropriate avenues of research.

To co-ordinate and work with the other RN charities and other Families Federations.

Apply for funding to deliver relevant and current projects that will support delivery of the NFF’s strategy.

Act as adviser to the trustees.

Develop an effective working relationship with the Chair of Trustees.

Represent the three Families Federations at key meetings in rotation as required.

Attract, retain, and manage an effective team of staff.
