Description

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead The Law Society's policy and public affairs work in Wales and support the Head of Wales in positioning the Law Society at the forefront the debate over the future of the legal sector in Wales.

You will use your excellent influencing and networking skills to make sure the voice of solicitors is heard at the highest level in Wales - whether it's in the Senedd, within Welsh Government or across the wider membership of the Law Society.

Working with some of the country's most senior solicitors, you will develop the Law Society's messages on the big issues facing the legal sector in Wales, from the devolution of justice, legal aid and recruitment and retention.

What we're looking for

You will be a public affairs and policy professional with a demonstrable knowledge of and passion for politics and policy-making in Wales. With experience of influencing tactfully and diplomatically at all levels, you will be able to work effectively in a busy and fast paced environment.

You will also have the ability to provide useful analysis of policy and legislative developments, clearly communicating well considered implications for the profession and Law Society policy.

Having an existing knowledge of the legal sector in Wales would be useful but more importantly you are a fast learner who builds credibility with senior people quickly.

What's in it for you

This is an excellent opportunity to work with contemporary thinkers in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting a culture of trust, excellence, welcome and belonging.

We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.

Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.

To apply, please submit a CV and supporting statement (no more than 500 words) clearly demonstrating how you meet the requirements of the role.
