About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because we’re not just home to UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

Are you passionate about making positive change with people who have experienced trauma, making sure they are at the heart of the work we do with them and able to lead the way? Do you have an in depth understanding of the systems people have to navigate to get the support they need and are you able to identify the barriers people face? Can you take a leadership role in working with partners across the system to address those barriers, and support practitioners to work with people using sensitive, trauma informed approaches that ensure people are able to identify and work towards what matters to them? If so, this exciting new role is for you.

The role

You will be responsible for two key areas of work: Leading our Camden and Islington Trauma Informed Network and improving practice in Adult Social Care.

Our Trauma Informed Network is well established and we are now bringing its leadership into the Council. The Network is the collective effort of people with lived experience and those in roles across sectors. Together the network works towards connecting the disparate trauma-informed approaches across the system and creating a shared language and approach. You would be responsible for leading this work on behalf of the network members, ensuring an ethos of coproduction and collaboration and that it continues to go from strength to strength.

In adult social care our strengths based model ‘What Matters’ focuses on the things that matter to people, recognising their strengths and building on them. For people who experience trauma this can be particularly challenging, especially if we want them to be able to lead the work. We know we have to work with practitioners from across the system and we want to use tools like Team Around Me to make this happen. The postholder will work alongside ASC staff to work in this way.

The post is jointly funded by adult social care, homelessness services and public health in recognition of the system wide approach required. As such, the role will have a systemic focus to how we support the network and develop trauma informed practice.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
