Description

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

Your Surrey office base preference will be discussed at interview and there are hybrid working options.

About the role

We currently have a vacancy for an Assessment & Income Technician. This is a specialist role which will lead on workforce development in all technical areas pertaining to financial assessments for Adult Social Care & support services.

With the upcoming social care charging reforms and the challenges the additional demand will bring, we are looking for someone with significant experience in the field of charging who can provide technical advice to a new team of financial assessment staff. The new teams will be structured across two core functions: non-residential and residential/nursing assessments. Therefore, an in-depth working knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulations across both areas is essential.

This is an exciting and challenging time to join us, as we strive to enable Surrey residents to self-serve with online tools, using supportive technology such as chatbots, live chats and automation. The role will support the management team to ensure all residents receive a seamless service, at pace, whilst at the same time ensuring financial assessments are right first time, every time.

Much of your work can be achieved working remotely, but you can expect to facilitate training sessions and workshops as required across the county. We actively encourage agile working and if you have a solution focussed approach, we would love to hear from you.

You will:

  • have broad Care Act charging legislation knowledge and understand the impact of charging reforms
  • have proven experience of workforce development and training delivery in the field of charging and/or welfare benefits advice
  • provide advice on complex charging matters, and liaise with legal services where needed
  • be required to undertake ad hoc project work, as directed by the management team
  • maintain, develop, and review systems and procedures to maximise service quality, impact and compliance
  • work inclusively, with a diverse range of stakeholders and promote equality of opportunity

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
