Climate Change and Sustainability - Implementation Lead

PO7: Starting salary £53,490 per annum, rising in annual increments to £56,640

Fixed Term until 31 July 2024.

Lambeth Council has agreed an ambitious target to reach net zero across its estate and operations by 2030. At the same time, we are pursuing ambitious targets to improve air quality, increase the resilience of Lambeth to climate change, promote climate justice and drive up biodiversity and environmental quality. We are looking for somebody to lead on the design and implementation of projects, and to help reshape council policy, to enable the council to meet those objectives.

The ideal candidate could have a background in either climate and sustainability policy, project delivery, science and technology, or engineering. We are looking for somebody who brings expertise in at least one key area, such as buildings, energy or air quality, and who has the capacity to develop technical expertise across multiple fields.

Responsibility for reducing emissions from the council’s estate sits with various teams. Across the wider borough, collaboration with residents, institutions, the private sector and other stakeholders is central to implementing Lambeth’s recently adopted Climate Action Plan. Therefore the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within and across organisations to get things done is essential.
