Higher Level teaching Assistants required for Primary schools in The Southport area immediately. This type of work is carried out by staff, with appropriate skills, when there is no active teaching taking place, due to the absence of the class teacher.

Higher Level teaching Work is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain classroom experience or those interested in pursuing a career in teaching.

Typical duties include:

• Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy;

• Managing the behaviour of students whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive working environment;

• Responding to any questions from students about process and procedures;

• Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures and ensuring health and safety is maintained;

• Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher;

• Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of students during the class and any other issues arising;

• Ensuring facilities used are kept and left tidy and safe at the end of each session.

You will need to be able to show proven behaviour / classroom management skills. The ideal candidate will be Degree Level educated, Part PGCE, NVQ Level 4 or Level 3 with experience or equivalent, you will be confident and innovative with excellent communication skills.
