Description

Established as an independent charity in 1931, the National Trust for Scotland’s core purpose is the promotion of the conservation, access, and enjoyment of Scotland’s places of historic interest and natural beauty. The Trust is Scotland’s largest independent conservation charity, owning and with the responsibility to care for a large portion of Scotland’s most significant heritage, from coastlines to castles, art to architecture, gardens to wilderness.

A new strategy has been put in place to direct and guide the charity’s work over the next ten years as it looks forward to its centenary in 2031. Within the strategy, clear priorities have been set, based on three core objectives of conservation, engagement, and sustainability.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Leadership team as Director of Customer and Cause, reporting directly into the CEO, to develop clear, confident and strategic objectives. The Director of Customer and Cause will bring excellent leadership skills to lead the Directorate responsible for audience development, marketing, communications, fundraising and membership. They will be actively involved in the further planning and execution of the Trust’s ten-year strategy.

The Trust is looking for a dynamic, flexible and committed individual who will work collaboratively across the charity with national support services and with all of the regional leadership. Customer focus, audience insight, influence, and strategic thinking will be critical to the success of this role, as will be the ability to work effectively across the Trust’s considerable geographic spread across of all of Scotland and diverse interests across the built and natural heritage
