Central is currently recruiting for an Employment and Housing Navigator, to work in theBrent area. The service provides housing and employment support to clients with medium to low support needs in order to enable service users to resettle into the private rent sector (PRS) to live independently and obtain employment.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working fromMonday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Please note, there is a requirement to be flexible regarding working outside these hours if the Service requires. Cover is required for approximately 3 months. The pay rate is £13.46 per hour, with £1.62 holiday pay, totalling £15.08 per hour.

The Employment and Housing Navigator will reduce the risk of repeat homelessness, through provision of support to vulnerable people moving from temporary accommodation or rough sleeping, the private rented sector.

In this position, you will be responsible for;

  • Holding a caseload of 20 clients and carrying out regular key working sessions resulting in agreed SMART Support Plans which are reviewed regularly
  • Completing comprehensive and on-going needs and risk assessments, with the client taking an active role in identifying the areas of support and how to meet their needs
  • Providing support to service users to enable them to move on into shared/HMO PRS accommodation
  • Assist the service users to manage practical elements of independent living such as; paying rent, setting up and managing utilities, liaising with landlords and other agencies
  • Minimising risk to clients by identifying, reporting and following up any safeguarding concerns
  • Providing 1:1 ETE goal-focused support sessions; enabling a caseload of clients to move into suitable and sustainable education, training and employment
  • Working with clients to identify barriers, strengths and goals, with a focus on employability.
  • Pro-actively liaising with external agencies and internal departments to maximise client support services, funding, referrals and mutually beneficial working relationships.
  • Identifying and promoting opportunities for clients to participate in the community through education, volunteering, employment and leisure activities

To apply for this role, you must have;

  • The proven ability to effectively liaise with a range of external service providers and agencies and in order to share information about or improve services to clients.
  • The ability to manage a flexible caseload
  • Experience of working within a strengths and recovery based model. Proactively engaging and motivating people to move towards an appropriate level of independence and inclusion.
  • Experience of planning, facilitating and delivering group work sessions to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience of providing ETE support, guidance and advice to socially excluded groups and an awareness of the barriers to accessing and sustaining ETE activities.
