We have an exciting opportunity for a Garden and Outdoors Manager to lead our team, looking after our Grade 1 listed landscape. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll be in charge of the daily management and development of the garden, the parkland and the wider estate.

Sheffield Park and Garden welcomes in excess of 300,000 visitors annually to the garden and tens of thousands more to our surrounding countryside and woodlands.

Salary: £35,022 - £44,733 depending on experience

Interview date: 3rd October 2022

Hours: This is a full-time position requiring weekend, bank holiday and occasional evening work.

Internal secondments will be considered.

What you'll be doing

Your role will include:

  • Leading a team of 7 gardeners, an apprentice and a Ranger
  • Delivering project plans and implementing the work program to the highest horticultural standards
  • Leading on conservation, woodland and land management
  • Managing risk and compliance
  • Delivering exceptional experiences for our visitors and supporters

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of land and access management
  • Experience of horticulture and management
  • Effective leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent planning and people management skills
  • Ability to manage budgets, finances, compliance and small projects
  • Knowledge of conservation of historic landscapes
  • Experience of organising garden and outdoor activities
