Job Title: Senior Lecturer in Construction Crafts, Building Services & Retrofit

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £40,931 - £51,805 per annum - AC3. Exceptional candidates will be considered for salaries at the top of this range.

Job type: Permanent, Full-time.

The University's School of Engineering, Digital and Sustainable Construction in partnership with another University, has ambitious plans to develop a cutting-edge, carbon-neutral site right in the heart of Birmingham.

From September 2023 we will be training the construction workforce of the future in areas where skills demand outstrips supply, where we will be teaching both traditional construction and building services skills alongside evolving skills such as modular building, modern methods of construction, green technologies, retrofit etc. Using only the best resources and high-tech kit in the sector, you will have one of the most inspiring environments to work in alongside outstanding academic support from across the sector.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join us at the outset. You will need to be at the top of your game with experience in both industry and in education at a variety of levels and have the experience to lead and develop a team.

You will have direct input into co-creating an exciting curriculum with industry partners and be the face of The University's Construction as well as leading on student recruitment and outreach work. Over time, you will lead the development of higher-level programmes that will afford our students the greatest life chances and offer a clear line of sight to degree level outcomes.

You will work with other Senior Lecturers and our Executive Dean to ensure our facilities can only be described as world class and produce work-ready students that can springboard into high value careers.

We expect that the ideal candidate for this role has a comprehensive CPD record and furthermore they will be expected to spend time back in industry to ensure currency and innovation is ongoing.
