This is a remarkable opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated team and use your knowledge of policy development as it relates to the financial sector to contribute to a vital cause. We want you to use your expertise to save our planet as a member of the Sustainable Finance Policy unit within the new Policy Solutions team, in the world’s leading independent conservation organisation.

In this new role of Senior Policy Advisor - Finance, you will help design creative policy solutions to some of the world’s most difficult and pressing challenges. You will work to influence public policy to bring about a net zero and nature positive financial sector in the UK and globally. In particular, initially this role will be responsible for leveraging a very strategic policy partnership the WWF has with a leading UK insurer to maximise our joint influence on policy.

This role will manage one of WWF’s most strategy financial policy partnerships, coordinating WWF’s internal positions and helping to progress an ambitious joint partnership agenda. It will involve assessing existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and political salience as well as being alert to new policy ideas from other contexts or locations. As an internal expert, you will operate to understand the problem, and explore and innovate solutions, with regard to how WWF can most effectively influence policymaking. You will lead meetings with stakeholders, civil servants and technical specialists to support effective policy development and influencing too. Your remit will include producing reports, documents and briefings and commissioning consultants. You will also collaborate with WWF colleagues to develop policy and deliver the case for action and implementation to key stakeholders.

You must have experience of policy development in financial sector regulation, ideally gained through working at a central bank, regulator, government institution or private sector public affairs/ sustainability division. This will have given you an in-depth knowledge of the sustainable economy landscape. Politically aware, you will possess astrong understanding of how policy is influenced, both inside and outside Government as well as how policy and politics interact and how one can be used to influence the other. Expert at identifying key or underlying issues in complex situations, you will be anexperienced researcher who learns from mistakes and is open to giving and receiving challenging viewpoints. You will possess excellent influencing, relationship building and communication skills. You are highly organised and able to create structure in a workstream involving lots of internal and external stakeholders
