For 150 years the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST) has been pioneering girls’ education. As we face the challenges of today and tomorrow it is vital our Boards can make effective decisions whilst meeting regulatory requirements.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a team of governance experts.

As Governance Manager you will work with the Head of Governance to ensure effective governance, with a particular focus on the GDST Academy Trust and the School Governing Boards across the GDST network.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the GDST Academy Trust Board to facilitate the efficient conduct of business and decision-making
  • Planning and managing an effective programme of meetings for the GDST Academy Trust Board
  • Arranging induction and training for the Academy Trust Board and members of the Local Governing Bodies
  • Acting as clerk to the Academy Trust Board and the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee
  • Providing assistance to School Governing Boards and their Chairs by delivering advice and guidance on school governance related matters
  • Supporting the Head of Governance with administration and management to ensure a strong governance function

This post will be based in London, where the GDST’s central office is based and where half of the network of 25 schools and academies is located. You will also be required to undertake travel across England and Wales to attend meetings/support Governors directly.

You will need experience of arranging and preparing senior level meetings, preparing agendas, drafting reports, policies, procedures and minutes, as well as excellent written skills. You will also have experience in maintaining records and will have the ability to deal discretely with issues of a political, sensitive or confidential nature.
