The Animal Management curriculum sits within the Department of Land Based Studies. The department successfully covers the wide breadth of subject areas expected within a land-based provision. The department consist of four curriculum areas, these being Animal Management, Horse Management, Agriculture Food, Land and Environmental Management and Apprenticeships. The provision spans Level 1 to Level 6 and higher apprenticeships. The Department works closely with the relevant industry sectors and has close links with a number of nationally recognised employers. Land based students benefit from the campus based practical resources aligned to their provision. These include an on-site extensive animal collection, commercially run mixed farm, commercial equine yard, dog grooming salon, a walled garden and extensive grounds.
The Animal Management curriculum is highly successful in delivering programmes from Level 1 to Level 6 and recruits students from across the southwest. The role of Curriculum Manager will oversee the vibrant and diverse curriculum and be involved in the delivering of highly effective teaching learning and assessment. The post holder will be instrumental in ensuring learners maximise their potential and make positive progress towards timely success. The role will drive the continual development of the curriculum to respond to industry needs and the successful transition to T-Levels. The successful candidate will have suitable industry experience as well as a passion for teaching and learning. They will also have the ability to manage a team and the leadership skills to guide the team successfully through curriculum changes.
