Science Technician - Croydon

Do you possess a keen interest in the Sciences and have the skills or be willing to learn what is needed to support students with practical experiments?

TimePlan Education are seeking a talented and committed Science graduate looking to join a great school in Croydon. Due to retirement within this 11-18 academy, they are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science technician to join their successful team. The role will begin immediately and will be a full-time permanent appointment.

The school are looking for someone to play a key role to play in supporting laboratory practical lessons from Year 7 to 11.

Working under the instruction of the Director of Science your role will include stock taking, ordering equipment and materials and maintaining (and where possible, repairing) equipment. You will also be required to support staff and students with the safe use of relevant materials and equipment.

The Science Department consists of 6 staff who teach the AQA Combined and Separate Sciences at GCSE and follow the AQA Kerboodle specification at Key Stage 3. A well-resourced and centrally placed prep room is part of the department to enable you to successfully fulfill the role.

Essential for the Role:

• Experience of ICT (Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook)
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, including English and Maths GCSE at grades A* to C
• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task
• Have sound knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH.

Preferable:

• Have had previous experience as a Biology or Chemistry Science Lab Technician within a school/further education science department and be educated to a minimum A-level standard with a science related subject
• Have knowledge of school procedures.
