Project Coordinator (Race and Ethnicity Unit)

Our client has a fantastic opportunity for a Project Coordinator to join them in making a difference on a fixed-term contract basis, initially for three years.

Project Coordinator Responsibilities:

Their Race and Ethnicity Unit represents their commitment in action to tackling racism and ethnic inequalities uncovered in the chemical sciences. The Unit will be established with an initial investment of £1.5M over the first three years to serve as a basis to evaluate outcomes and impact, and future needs in the community and for their future work.

As their Race and Ethnicity Project Coordinator you will support the day-to-day activities of the Race and Ethnicity Unit which includes working with the team and supporting their network of volunteers, ensuring the delivery of new initiatives and activities, including the new grants and other initiatives with industry and funders of research.

In addition, you will be responsible for the Inclusion and Diversity Fund special calls on Race and Ethnicity, undertaking casework for routine enquiries, arranging/processing payments to beneficiaries and volunteers and supporting the volunteer network and any other community initiatives and events planned and organised by the Race and Ethnicity Unit. You will also support the administrative work of the Race and Ethnicity Unit and will produce the monthly reports on expenses and allocated budgets to the different initiatives.

Project Coordinator Requirements:

They are looking for:

• Educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent.
• Articulate communicator both orally and in writing, with experience in a customer-focussed environment.
• Excellent organisational skills, including organising meetings and events, and experience of administrative tasks including filing, databases, word-processing, minute-taking, spreadsheet software and financial administration.
• Empathetic approach to volunteering and diversity, with a willingness to undertake knowledge gathering tasks to support enquiries.
• Awareness of data protection and confidentiality issues.
• Able to interact, influence and network competently with colleagues, partners, members and peers at other professional bodies and to make informed assessments and analysis and communicate these.
• Experience of organising meetings and events.

The contractual base for this role is their Cambridge or London office, however they are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to work from a location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role. This role will involve occasional travel within the UK and some weekend or evening work.
