**We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students to aid success**

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is a long-standing and leading provider of supported online education. We exist to provide accessible, relevant and cost-effective education which enhances careers, increases professionalism and contributes to a sustainable built environment. Operating from the UK and Hong Kong we have a global reach, and at any one time over 3,500 students are studying online with us. UCEM passed its first ever inspection by Ofsted with flying colours after earning an overall rating of ‘Good’ in November 2021.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of supporting and managing safeguarding or welfare cases of students within the Education sector to join our passionate Disability & Welfare team. Within this role you will assist students with declared disabilities, Safeguarding and/or welfare issues, working to ensure a positive student-centred outcome and overall success on their programme. You will connect and build a rapport with a wide range of stakeholders and respond appropriately to their needs.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support and be responsible for a case load of students, often with complex support requirements, and provide help and/or advice to disabled students.
  • Draw up personal UCEM Additional Support Plans (ASPs) for current students and ensure adjustments are implemented.
  • Lead on awareness events e.g. World Mental Health Day or Dyslexia Awareness Week.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) in absence of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Make decisions in safeguarding cases and follow cases through to conclusion.
  • Act as a source of guidance, support and expertise within the Safeguarding team, developing and delivering training and/or one-to-one support of team members as required.

To deliver these responsibilities we need your excellent communication skills combined with previous knowledge and experience of legislation and delivering pastoral student support. In order to excel at this role, you must display the ability to adapt and manage situations sensitively whilst maintaining accuracy with the aim of helping students succeed.

At UCEM we expect employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support. Student satisfaction and success are our main drivers and our people consistently report high levels of employee engagement; your contribution will be valued should you join us.
