Description
Prospectus is pleased to be working with a homelessness charity based in Newham, whose mission is to provide support to people who find themselves sleeping rough in East London by providing a safe and welcoming place to stay, and offering support through the provision of personalised support, educational and life skills opportunities. They are now seeking a Support Worker to join their Female only Supported Housing Team in East Ham. This position is offered as a temporary assignment initially for 1 month.
As one of their Support Workers, you will be responsible for the service delivery of an effective, high quality, person centred support service to residents with a range of medium to high support needs, as well as complex behaviours. You will support a caseload of residents in a Complex Needs service and will work alongside Assistant Support Workers, to promote resident engagement through the development of positive relationships and contributing towards the promotion of a fulfilling, safe and inclusive environment. You will create and conduct regular reviews of support plans and risk assessments. You will be working closely with the Supported Accommodation team, and team members from other teams in the organisation, to contribute to developing residents' living skills, particularly around health and wellbeing.
To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience and understanding of a range of approaches appropriate to working with challenging behaviour including current drug and/or alcohol use, antisocial behaviour and complex needs. You will have previous experience of working with a caseload of client in a trauma-informed way combined with the ability to produce and approach referrals, needs and risk assessment and building positive reports with residents, colleagues and stakeholders. Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting supported housing and vulnerable adult groups is essential. To be successful, you will have good understanding of risk management and safeguarding in relation to people who experience rough sleeping as well as being naturally motivated, adaptable and a committed member of the team.
The working pattern for this position is Average 37.5 hours per week excluding breaks. You will be expected to work a flexible shift pattern that will involve working between Monday to Sunday within the hours 8.00am to 8.00pm on a rota basis. An Enhanced DBS for Adult is essential
