Good governance and compliance are fundamental to success as a Charity, the Governance Manager will play a vital role, acting as a champion of good practice, adhering with legislation requirements, and ensuring compliance.

As the Governance Manager you will play a key role in ensuring high quality support is provided to all internal and external customers and stakeholders. As the Board Secretary, you will manage Board business and being responsible for sound and integrated governance processes, whilst ensuring Day One complies with its legal, contractual and regulatory requirements.

You will advise the Board and staff members on governance, compliance and risk issues, championing good governance practices and compliance with charity and company legislative requirements.

You will assist the Board to ensure that the decision-making process is underpinned by robust, compliant and transparent administration, this includes supporting the Board and Committee meetings with minute taking, action management and forward planning responsibilities to ensure good performance. You will take ownership of the annual meeting schedule and calendar of Board and Committee meetings, ensuring that work aligns to the Scheme of Delegation and features space for regular effectiveness reviews.

You will support the development and facilitation of the Strategic and Operational risk management systems, providing the opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and Resources, you will support the production and delivery of Board business including the Annual Report and Accounts, recruitment and selection of Trustees, and Board development activity.

You will act as the operational lead for Health and Safety management, working closely with the Director of Finance and Resources, you will ensure that Day One remains a safe and healthy environment, and an organisation that is compliant with legislative requirements.

Working closely with the Chief Executive you will provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team meeting, including minute taking, action management, forward planning, paper circulation, and communication supporting the flow of information.

You will act of the operational lead for policy management, including supporting the Policy and Procedure Group meeting, keeping the document index up to date, updating the Board and staff team on developments.
