Manager - Restorative Justice

Job Type: Part Time, 22.5 hours per week (0.6)

Salary: £33,000 per annum (FTE)

The Role

The role will have lead responsibility and accountability for managing the Victim-Initiated RJ Services within the Victims First Specialist Service funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Thames Valley; to provide strategic direction; to attend key meetings e.g Local Criminal Justice Board (LCJB); to work closely with senior lead officers across Criminal Justice services in the Thames Valley and to maintain links with the CJS. To work to position the service for future contracts with the Probation Service and others and ensure wider RJ implementation.

Key Tasks:

  • To manage the Victim Initiated RJ services with VFSS, maintaining a close working relationship with the Area Managers and Service manager, while also encouraging the RJ practitioners to work closely with the VFSS area teams.
  • To ensure the needs of victims are at the heart of all RJ Services.
  • To establish and manage systems and information to ensure the provision of data, maintenance of records, effective referral systems and case management and monitoring systems in line with the requirements of the OPCC VFSS contract and the organization.
  • To oversee all aspects of RJ projects including working with probation and the successful implementation of projects in line with plans agreed with the Service Manager and the CEO of Thames Valley Partnership.
  • To maintain strong and growing working relationships with all Thames Valley Restorative Justice Service’s (TVRJS) key partners, Victims First Specialist Service key partners, develop strong links with the Criminal Justice Board and represent the RJ Service to external forums; sentencers, Victims’ Groups and other key stakeholders and potential funders.
  • To recruit, manage and motivate all RJ staff and line manage Senior Practitioners including ongoing CPD development.
  • To implement a Communications Strategy to promote the service across the Thames Valley; to improve the reach of the service, to raise awareness to victims and to increase take up of the service.
  • To maintain and develop the RJ Ambassadors and RJ Champion groups, volunteers and Ambassadors.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent management and team leadership skills
  • A wide knowledge of Restorative Justice, both theoretical and practical including evidenced best practice
  • A grasp of current key issues and priorities for Restorative Justice within the CJ system, and the implications for managers
  • Excellent presentational and training skills
  • An ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • A capacity to take into account the principles deriving from evidence-based research
  • An ability to produce, analyse and apply both hard statistical data and qualitative information to performance management
  • Demonstrable experience of successful contract and budget management
  • Demonstrable experience of partnership work at a senior level
  • Demonstrable knowledge of victim’s codes linked to RJ
